Treatments for myositis

In no particular order these treatments have been reviewed by members of the Daily Strength forum who have a form of myositis:

Prednisone  102 Members said it was effective 95% of the time

Methotrexate 56 Members said it was effective 78% of the time

Plaquenil  26 Members said it was effective 68% of the time

IVIG Intravenous immunoglobulin 24 Members said it was effective 95% of the time

Cellcept Mycophenolic acid or mycophenolate is an immunosuppresant drug 15 Members said it was effective 63%  of the time

Folic Acid  a form of a water-soluble B vitamin. 13 Members said it was effective  92% of the time

Azathioprine  10 Members said it was effective   83% of the time

Rituxan  7 Members said it was effective   100% of the time

Physical Therapy  5 Members said it was effective 75% of the time

Vitamin D  5 Members said it was effective  100% (but for what)

These may not be the only treatments for myositis and I am not sure why folic acid and Vitamin D are in the list.

  1. Can I just say what a blessing this blot is?! My husband was diagnosed less than a month ago after more than 7 years of intensely searching for answers and relief. I wouldn't wish this life on anyone, but it's nice to not be alone :)

    1. Tiffany sorry to hear about your husband. How is he going? It may be difficult in the early days. It took me 8 years to get a diagnosis too. So pleased this little blog could help someone and thanks for letting me know.
